Mom-ME summertime blogging {June 18, 2012}

Linking up with Mama Kat's weekly writing prompt today!

The writing prompt I have chosen this week:  2.) Time for a break! Show us where you go for quiet time.

A warm summer night on the porch

The warm south wind gently rolls across the porch, sweeping away the tension from the day. I inhale deeply, then hold that breath, feeling it's sensation of healing as I slowly let it escape. I lean my head back on my chair and try to let the muscles of my shoulders fall back into place. They seem to be eternally caught up in the "what's next" and they resist my desire to exist only in the "here and now". I wonder if they might fuse themselves to my ears. The gentle breeze cannot sweep away the lingering effects the tension brings.

His toes touch mine as I stretch my legs straight out in front of me, the heat of the pavement a sharp contrast to the coolness of his feet, but the sensation is most pleasant. I stare up into the night time canopy of trees. The air current is strong enough that it makes each tree sway in it's entirety. It's impressive to watch. While I feel it should be concerning watching the strong trunks of the trees lightly tilting back and forth 40 ft up from the ground, I am not alarmed. I see the strength and the balance they contain and I envision their roots stretching out an equal distances underground. He is my root system.

It's as if time has paused for a moment. I know there are sounds all around me, but aside from the rustling leaves, I hear nothing. I take a sip from my glass of Ambrosia, savoring the moment, the calm, the sweet indulgence of this quiet summer night. Monday morning will come all too soon, but for now I am living here.

I'm beginning a series called Summer Mom-ME. Wait for it though.... it gets even better... it's going to be a weekly linky party for Mom-ME's to blog about Mom-ME things that maybe aren't entirely kid related. In fact, here is a list of guidelines to follow for this linky party:

  1. It's gotta be about you, not your kids.
  2. Therefore it can't be homeschooling or kid activity related.
  3. It CAN be fiction! (Sometimes momma's need a little imaginary get-away!)
  4. It CAN be something non-fiction that you enjoy!
  5. IT CANNOT BE about your kids. Yes, I know I said that one first. I feel it bares repeating. I know how you mommy types (meaning me) are!
Following these guidelines, write a post about you, for you, by you about any non-kid related thing you choose.  Don't forget to attach a link back to my blog (sorry, there is no button for sharing,  YET...).

Okay!  Now it's your turn!  Link up any thing you like!  Try to make it something that will take us away from the week's worth of Mom moments that are coming!
