Linking up with Conversion Diary !

What a week. If you're thinking of starting a daycare, think long and hard about it. I love kiddo's, especially mine and this is why I do it, but the only reliable thing about daycare is that no two weeks will be alike. We're definitely feeling the weight of the economy around here.

This brings me to rosaries! This weekend I'm putting together my Etsy account. I hope to get some good photo's of my Dolly and Me rosaries posted so you can see what I'm going to start selling. I was inspired by Amazing's first communion and her love for her American Girl doll. These little matching rosaries are just so sweet.

Speaking of things on the agenda for this weekend, tomorrow is part #3 for Awesome's Sweet 16. This one is at the park for her to celebrate with her friends. The cousins are coming over today to make cupcakes and the excitement is building! In addition to that, the temperatures are dipping into the low to mid 80's today and tomorrow! What perfect timing.

All of the decisions for high school have been made. Through the kindness and generosity of an anonymous donor, Awesome will be able to return to her private high school for her Junior year. What a lot of tears and tribulation this summer has brought to her poor, stressed soul. Now the panic to do the required summer work is well under way. It's going to be a roller coaster ride of a weekend around here for us. Her school officially starts on Tuesday (although cross country starts Monday). Ready, set, go!

Last week on Wednesday, Amazing's curriculum arrived and yesterday evening Cosmo's curriculum arrived. It's like Christmas in August around here. They've been pouring over the new textbooks (especially the science) telling me about all the great things they GET to study this year. We're so excited! We'll start on Tuesday when Awesome does.

Starting back to school has me concerned about the preschooler in my care. This will be his first year attending preschool, part time, while simultaneously attending my daycare. There are So. Many. Germs. in preschool. I'm really nervous about what illnesses he will bring to share with us. Earlier in the week it was bothering me so much, I started wishing for a Lysol bomb. I wrote a letter to Lysol, and they responded, but now I'm even more disheartened than I was before. Here's is their response from their facebook page:
I always run out of things to say by the time I get to number 7, so I'll just briefly talk about what books I'm reading/have just finished. I'm currently reading The African Queen. I'm so close to the end! It's a great book, but I'm having a hard time finding personal time this summer. I just finished My So Called Life as a Proverbs 31 Wife. Honestly, I really didn't get what I was looking for out of this one. I'll post a review about it next week. This weekend, I've got a funny feeling I'll be reading The Last of the Mohican's with Awesome. She's a fantastic reader and absorbs books, literally. For what ever reason though, she's just not been able to make herself read this one. We've decided to tag team it. I'm going to read it, aloud to her while she annotates away. I'm hoping the interaction will make this last summer assignment a little easier to take.
Anyway, I've got work to do now, so...
Have a great weekend!
Word of caution on the book...don't watch the movie and think that will cover it. There is very little similarity between the 2 (but the movie is more fun) Cooper can be a little dry, not surprised she's getting stuck. Maybe a little background on the French and Indian War, if she hasn't done that much of it in U.S. History before.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think the Lysol bomb would be a wonderful addition to any teacher's self-defense plan against the creepie cruddies ;)
We never watch the movie before the book. I think it's pretty rare for a movie to get it right. Her biggest problem is the stress involved. I had her stop reading it a couple of weeks ago so she could focus on the work for the public school. Otherwise, I think she could have handled it.
DeleteI'm so disappointed that there's no bomb. I just can't spray everything every night. Those little fingers get EVERYWHERE... ;)
Have a great weekend too :-)
